628. Rancho Nuveo 4/15

I had been trying to climb to Samon Peak and every time I got to Santa Barbara Canyon Road the gate was closed. This was my second attempt, first was New Years Eve and I thought the trail head was about a mile beyond the gate. It was 5 miles and there was 4 inches of snow on the trail. I did a 20 mile hike that day and never got close to Samon Peak. This time I had a back up plan Rancho Nuveo Trail, and I climbed to the top of Lizard Head. The view is of Madulce, and this is in The Dick Smith Wilderness.
